Masks a Primary Account Number (PAN) to protect cardholder data while keeping enough digits visible for identification. PCI DSS requires masking when displaying PANs, showing at most the first 6 and last 4 digits.
Inputs
PAN: The full Primary Account Number to mask.
Format: The masking format to apply.
Tips
PCI DSS allows displaying at most the first 6 and last 4 digits.
The first 6-8 digits are the BIN/IIN (Bank Identification Number).
Masked PANs should use asterisks (*) for hidden digits.
